My name is Dr. Shellon A. McAllister-Brooks. I am a General Pediatrician who received my undergraduate education at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. There I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and then went on to the University of South Florida, where I received my medical degree. I subsequently did my residency training in Pediatrics with the Shands/University of Florida and Nemours Children’s Hospital systems in Jacksonville, Florida. After completing my residency, my family and I moved to the Nashville area, where I worked in a private practice setting as an affiliate with Vanderbilt University Children’s Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
I am an active member of my church, where I serve through the health and wellness committee. I am married and a mommy to a beautiful 12 year old girl and a dashingly handsome eight year old son. They are experts in keeping me busy. After being away from my extended family for some time, I decided to move closer, so my family and I have since relocated to Atlanta. I have spent the last 18 months working in a local Pediatric emergency department. I am very proud and extremely excited to now have opened my own clinic.
I am an active member of both the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. As part of my quest to stay in tune with the ever-changing pace of medicine, I consistently complete Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses. As a child of a former school teacher, it is natural for me to teach as well; I am a firm believer in active patient education. One of my goals is to promote healthy living for all of my patients and to ensure that those with chronic illnesses are optimally managed. My ultimate goal is to provide excellent care through open communication and effective patient education. I look forward to developing many relationships with my patients and their families in the years to come. |
